Amazon, Techstars Offering Bootcamps to Startup Founders

(small.news) — Amazon Web Services (AWS) has teamed up with Techstars to create the AWS Impact Bootcamps, which are meant to support underrepresented startup founders globally.

The bootcamps in Atlanta, Georgia, and New York City already passed. However, the bootcamp in Mexico City is set for October 1 and October 2, and the bootcamp in London is set for October 16 and October 17.

These bootcamps provide resources for small business owners from all different backgrounds.

“Talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not,” Dr. Nashlie Sephus, AWS’s Tech Evangelist, said. These bootcamps build on AWS’s commitment to support women, Black, Latino, and LGBTQIA+ founders.

AWS Bootcamp Includes 2-Day Training

If a small business owner decides to take part in the AWS Bootcamp, they can expect a two-day training that includes:

– Hands-on technical instruction
– Business coaching from experts
– Direct access to mentors and investors

Founders will also be given $5,000 in promotional credits for AWS to start projects. Workshops will be managed locally by Techstars.

Other bootcamps have reportedly been planned for Berlin and Tokyo, but dates for those locations haven’t been announced. Founders who want to participate must identify as members of an underrepresented community or show engagement with those communities.

The Founder and CEO of Techstars, David Cohen, said, “This partnership with AWS will allow us to reach founders we might not otherwise meet and give them the mentorship and guidance they need to scale.”
