Scotland Small Businesses Urged to Apply for Business of the Year Awards

(small.news) — Small businesses that have up to 50 employees are being asked to enter the Scotland Business of the Year Awards this year.

Small businesses that make it on the shortlist will need to demonstrate outstanding development and growth, such as through significant investments, job creation, expansion into new markets, or the introduction of new products, according to TheBusinessDesk.

The editor of TheBusinessDesk, Peter Walker, said, “Small businesses make up the overwhelming majority of Scotland’s economy, yet often don’t get the coverage they deserve. We’re looking to help change that by recognizing the best and brightest ventures across geographies, sectors, and demographics.”

Recognizing Scotland’s Most Successful Small Businesses

TheBusinessDesk started the Scotland Business of the Year Awards to “recognize the country’s most successful and ambitious businesses.” These awards are open for entries, and will be until Friday, Jan. 16.

There are 13 different categories, including:

– Fast-growth small businesses
– International trade
– Investment
– Employers

There will also be two individual awards this year: One for the chief executive of the year and one for the ambassador.

How to Enter the Scotland Business of the Year Awards

Visits to small businesses across the country will start in February and March. Small businesses that make the shortlist will be asked to give a pitch to the judges in May, before the winners are eventually announced at an event in June.
