American Small Businesses Invited to Sign the Small Business Administration’s Freedom 250 Pledge

(small.news) — The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched the Freedom 250 Small Business Pledge, inviting small business owners nationwide to join a celebration of 250 years of American independence, entrepreneurship, and free enterprise, according to The Manila Times and Upper Cumberland Business Journal.

Businesses that take the pledge will receive an official Freedom 250 certificate from the SBA, recognizing their contribution to the country’s economic strength, their local communities, and the entrepreneurial tradition that has shaped the nation since 1776.

The initiative arrives as the United States approaches its semiquincentennial, a milestone the SBA is using to spotlight the role that small businesses have played and continue to play in building the American economy from the ground up.

What Signing the Pledge Means

Businesses that sign the pledge will receive an official Freedom 250 certificate from the SBA, receive recognition as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebration, join a national network of entrepreneurs supporting American free enterprise, and demonstrate their commitment to economic growth, innovation, and job creation.

The program is deliberately inclusive, designed to reach tech startups, established manufacturers, and the full range of entrepreneurs, Main Street businesses, family-owned companies, and innovators who power America’s economy and strengthen communities nationwide.

The SBA’s Case for Celebration

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler framed the initiative as a direct expression of the agency’s current priorities. She said that for 250 years, America’s small businesses have embodied the ingenuity, determination, and practical know-how that define the country at its best, and that the Freedom 250 Pledge gives entrepreneurs a visible way to stand behind the values of hard work and free enterprise that have driven that history.

The initiative coincides with renewed momentum in the small business sector, with new business formations reaching record highs over the past three months and jobs data over the same period exceeding expectations, with over 560,000 jobs created.

Connecting Small Businesses Across the Country

Beyond the certificate and formal recognition, the pledge is also intended to serve a connective function. Tyler Teresa, SBA Regional Administrator for the Atlantic Region, noted that no small business owner succeeds in isolation. He described the Freedom 250 Small Business Pledge as a platform for entrepreneurs to engage, connect, collaborate, and share best practices, extending the spirit of National Small Business Week into a broader, anniversary-year effort to build community among the country’s small business owners.
