Friday Jones Is Building Charlotte’s Artist Community from the Inside Out

Friday Jones is an Afrofuturistic Americana musician, creative entrepreneur, and arts advocate raised in the Carolinas and based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is the founder of Friday’s dope llc, a visionary arts, media, and entertainment company headquartered in Charlotte.

Jones makes genre-blending music that is whimsical, soulful, and theatrical, rooted in lyricism, storytelling, and epic production. But the music is only part of the work. In 2021, she launched Friday’s dope llc to create impactful artistic experiences and support fellow artists in building their brands. She is a resident and Programming Committee Secretary at the VAPA Center, an artist collective in a repurposed government building that houses over 370 local artists. She is also a member of the Arts & Science Council Advisory Board and a vocal advocate for treating artists as legitimate business owners in city policy conversations.
